Jochen Distelmeyer is a German musician and head of the German band Blumfeld who has now released his first solo album called “Heavy”.
The album is slow and melodic. The lyrics are serious but some are also fun. The music sounds pure and the album sounds like a typical singer/songwriter release. There is no effects and not many other “sound impacting elements” added to the music. Some songs even sound very pure with guitar and vocals only like for example the first one. It is the purest on the album with vocals and an acoustic guitar only. The lyrics are all in German. The music is very catchy and animates you to sway along. Also is this album very suitable for relaxing. Most choruses are easy to memorize and to sing along.
The album layout is held as simple as the music. The voice of Jochen Distelmeyer goes deep underneath your skin with some songs, other songs just scratch on your emotional surface. And even though the lyrics are all in German, I am sure even if you don’t understand German you will understand what he is singing about.
“Heavy” is a great and pure album, very seldom nowadays but good to have.
