Obituary – Darkest Day

Releasedate: 15-06-2009; Label: Candlelight Records
By: Elvira Visser

The band members from Obituary are always busy whether they are on tour, working on a side project or recording a CD. It has been a while since this album has been released.

Don’t expect any changes from Obituary when listening the new CD, because there are no changes. What they do is, they stick to their old sound, which is the clear Obituary death metal sound. Overall the tracks are good but in the end the album gets a bit boring and more of the same stuff they have already done before. They surly did not released a better album then their predecessors.
Though the tracks have a clear Obituary signature. The guys still do what they like, and that is playing old school Death metal with well written catchy riffs with crushing heaviness. Even though you might be fooled with the first few tracks, the album tends to focus on these first few tracks to lure the listener in with what they want to hear and finish them off with what they really like themselves. Fans will surely appreciate.
