Område is an avant garde project and about their background they simply tell: ‘This project includes musicians of an unknown country’.A very first release sees light now. It’s called: “Edari” and it is out now.
A beautiful serene soundscape opens this album, an introduction to a calm release that is filled with intense moments, diverse musicians and instruments. We are presented eight tracks which seem to stand apart at first but come closer in the atmospheric element. Melancholy is a bit of a binding factor. There are several guest musicians to be heard, it may be logical to mention the vocalists but the first thing you get to hear are the saxophones and the trumpets giving the songs their charm. Then in other tracks you may find yourself listening to loads of effects making it epic almost cinematic and straight after that we get a more approachable track named “Luxurious Agony” and then you realize the impact of the vocals in telling the story that is more essential to be heard than you would have expected at first.
The surprises are not ending up. I specifically am impressed with Asphodel her input in this release. Her voice is implemented so nicely, it all comes together nicely. Each song has something that comes out remarkable an despite that the songs are apart from each other the project makes it blend into one album to enjoy rather than a collection of different tracks.
We don’t have to write any more words to tell that we are very impressed with this release. If you are into finding something you won’t hear every day this is an excellent expanding of your collection.
