Dan Deagh Wealcan has a Russian/ Ukraine background. They made an album with quite a title, “Two Straight Horizontal Lines And The Organized Chaos In Between” to be exact. And as a bonus, the tracks are titled with similarly based lines.
The music is experimental, a mix of diverse genres but it is not as wild as it may be expected. You could have thought about some metalcore combines with complex progressive riffs, but it is not that expressive as the titles may suspect. But then, what is it? Well you are presented a mix of Rock with some screaming to put some aggression to it. It’s not that far as the craziness of The Dillinger Escape Plan, but that band seems an obvious reference for their sound.
The strength of the release is to be found in the way the guys keep the control over their chaos. They throw you back and forth but it is not ruthless. You won’t be completely lost when listening it.
A release that may not be the most standard ones that we got. One to appreciate a little more each time you put it on. An album that needs time to grow on you. And the great thing is that you won’t be done experiencing something new on it anytime soon.
