Manzana is a rebelish pop/metal band from Finland. The band scored some hits with their two previous releases in their home country and toured through Europe. Now their new album “Industrial Hippies” is released. It is the third full length release from the Finns.
People who are familiar with the sound of the Manzana might be a bit surprised at first when hearing their latest release. It starts with a slight different edge than what you might have been used off, in general the tone of the album is more raw. Of course the band stayed true to their rebelicious side as well. Hear the riffage, brought by guitarist Henkka Virsell, sounds familiar too, but the mood steps away from party side. On the vocal side there seems to be a slight difference as well. Front woman Piritta Lumous, gives a slight twist to the way she uses her voice. As a song that stands out there is “Mother Can’t Rock” to mention. Furthermore the songs are quite alike, it fits in a story but does not shine for themselves that much. Perhaps a more conceptional album than you might have expected from these Finnish rockers, yet an album that you might have to listen a couple more times before it captures you, but a nice third one from the hands of Manzana.
Line Up:
Piritta Lumous – Vocals
Henkka Virsell – Guitar
