Supports: The Fright; Venue: Paunchy Cats, Lichtenfels (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
On this rainy Thursday I went all the way to Lichtenfels to see Blitzkid on their Germany tour. Their opening act was The Fright, another horrorpunk trio.
The little Paunchy Cats was filled with Goths, Punks and Horrorpunks. Not a very colourful audience but still people who knew how to have a good time. It was extremely crowded and therefore getting quite hot in this club.
Shortly past nine the first band began. The three Germans seemed somehow insecure on stage and weren’t as relaxed but they still rocked Paunchy Cats with all its guests. They played old and new songs, as well as a Blitzkid cover. The Fright played for almost an hour, animating everybody to dance and mosh along, but not every did. Yet! Some kids in the front row were dancing heavily though and singing along to some songs.
The headliner now entered the stage after a change over. First of all the band announced the new old drummer. It was Rhea M, back behind the drums again. How great! As this Horror trio began playing the audience went wild. They moshed like hell and almost destroyed everything in this little club. Bottles broke and people got cut in the broken mess. People tried stage diving and so on. Nobody stood still not even for a second. The cheering and singing along was loud and intense. The band had fun with their energetic performance and so did the audience. Blitzkid played old and new songs, announcing that there’s (finally) a new album to come. After a little over an hour the club was soothing hot and airless when Blitzkid ended their performance.
