Supports: Mühr, Aderlating; Venue: Hedon, Zwolle (Netherlands)

Some acts to see for free in Hedon, Zwolle but not the most regular ones perhaps. At this Sunday afternoon some of the acts that also appear on Roadburn could have been seen.
At first we get to see Aderlating. Aderlating is a side project of the man behind Gnaw their Tongues (and other projects). Live the band consists of Mories: noises/voices/drums and Erik (mowlawner) on noises and voice. So with that known you quickly realize that it is quite a static show. Some people found the stairs useful as seats which gives a different sort of ambiance. The creeping sounds that fill the venue, the video art that supports it, the whole is quite an experience and most people give it some dedicated attention. Most recent release of Aderlating dates back to November 2013 and whenever we can expect something more is unknown but what we do know is that Aderlating brings you music that creates something, the first act of the night sets the tone.
Psychedelic Doom formation Mühr is playing fast after the set of Aderlating. In Oktober 2013 the band released an album called “Messiah” which exist out of one song only, a playtime of 47 minutes guaranteed. Tonight it was exactly that track that filled the setlist so those who have been listening to the album before did not have to expect much surprises in the setlist.
On the stage the band is a bit more active than Aderlating which comes naturally knowing that they had a more dynamic setting. The calmth the set starts with holds on quite long and it takes a bit from the audience who eagerly awaits the whole to step forward and give some more power into it. The band takes their time for that, but when the whole gets further into it the band seem to pick up those souls that floated off a little.
Mühr can be seen at Roadburn festival this week, so whoever goes there might consider seeing them.
Ortega is a Doom/Sludge formation from Groningen (Netherlands). The band has released a full length in 2010 and some smaller releases after that and is, just as Mühr, scheduled to play the Roadburn festival. The guys have a good sense for drama in their sound, putting you up with a bit of a rollercoaster here and there, the one which stops at the top for a couple seconds before it lets you fall down into the great unknown, but what helps is that the guys are ready to pick you up right away, having their songs build in such a way that they might tease you a little, but not too long. They created an interesting and captivating set, a band that you could really add to your must-sees for Roadburn!
