Venue: Kunst!Palast, Bonn (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
Beth Hart is a singer / songwriter from Los Angeles that is making music for over twenty years now. Tonight she was stopping in Bonn with her band. It was a Tuesday night, so it was not too crowded in the Kunst!Palast tent.
Too bad. Because the others were really missing out on something big. There was no opening act tonight, so Beth Hart and her band only. Everyone was excited to see Beth Hart perform here in Bonn tonight. And the very moment she entered the stage I understood why. Beth Hart is a strong woman with a powerful voice, absolutely energetic as she was constantly dancing, spreading joy. With all this she went through the night. Talking with the audience in between songs, making jokes and telling stories, you got the impression that the people in the audience are old friends. Speaking of old, there were quite many families in the audience and the average age was quite high. Beth was singing old and new songs, songs about love, hate and tragedy, songs the audience could sing along to.
Sometimes she was checking with her band in what tune and pace they should play the next song. That is a rare thing these days and impressive. The music was somewhere between jazz, blues and rock. It definitely got you to go along big time. One song was calming everyone though: The song about her sister. For this one Beth sat on the piano and played her song, singing it with all her heart. You could her the pain in her voice and how much she misses her sister. After a deep breath she rocked on again. Moving and dancing, getting the crowd to clap and move along.
This evening could have gone on for much longer. Beth Hart is a wonderful artist with a strong and beautiful voice. One you should definitely check out.
