25-06-2009 Auletta

Supports: Gastone; Venue: Nachtleben, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Auletta is a young band from Mainz/Germany who sings in German. It was the last night they were having a show without an album because their debut album was going to be released the day after.

First it seemed like Nachtleben was going to stay empty but it filled up very quick. Their opening act Gastone was very interesting. With a trumpet and trombone they played all kinds of music styles. Blues, Polka, rock and many other styles. With a lot of energy they performed and you could feel their passion for music. The audience enjoyed it a lot and danced, cheered and demanded encore, which they got. That is very rare for an opening act. Their songs were mostly in German. Everybody was dancing and clapping along. The band talked a lot with the audience and always got a response. A band loved by their audience. After Gastone was done quite some people left the venue. The audience was mostly under aged teenagers, being quite hysterical when they saw any member of either band. But there were also quite many friends in the audience.

As Auletta entered the stage and began performing they reminded me a lot of Mando Diao, Sugarplum Fairy and The Hives, only that Auletta sang in German. The guys seemed very professional on stage and rehearsed, which was really great to see, although the bass player seemed quite nervous but that was very understandable. The audience danced a lot, even sang along to most songs. The music was very danceable and catchy, a real refresher compared to all the casted bands nowadays. Auletta talked a lot with the audience as well, and got many replies as well. But you could also tell the guys were very excited about their album to be released. Alternative rock music made in Germany, perfectly well performed and delivered, spreading their passion. MTV promotes them as the “next big thing” and I can just agree. Go see them while they are still playing the little clubs. I am sure they will hit bigger venues soon
