Nightrage is a melodic death metal band, nowadays located in Sweden. “Wearing A Martyr’s Crown” is the fourth album from this band.
Marios Iliopoulos (Guitar) formed the band in the year of 2000. After the first two albums, two of the bandmember left and the future of the band seemed unclear, luckily they bounced back strongly with their third album titled “A New Disease Is Born”. In that album the band had taken up on more melodic riffs with a lot of varieties in them. This trend seemed to be taken on to this fourth release and the band shown they could bring this a little further. Though, the band has not completely stepped to the more commercial side of this music.
On the vocalside there is a lot of aggression to express and the band seemed to find a balance between the attention for vocals and the attention for the guitars in the album, making this album more than a collection of ego’s. A couple songs on “Wearing A Martyr’s Crown” cover a more acoustic approach. “Collision of Fate” features some acoustic guitar in the end of the song. Production of the album is very well done and give honor to the music.
The album is mature and steady. The band proves that they are kings in what they do, and it may be said that this is Nightrage finest album for those who have heard the older albums as well.
