28-03-2013 Metalorgy

Venue: Nosturi, Helsinki (Finland)
By: Sabine van Gameren

Metalorgy got cancelled at the end of 2012 as some medical issues were holding Turmion Kätilöt from performing, but about three months later the whole was rescheduled and it promised to be a night to remember.

What way to start a party at the Easter weekend other than with a bunny? Totally in style it was up to band Cold Cold Ground to start this show. Accompanied with a great sound which leaves every word come out accentuated to the max the band got the show going quite fast playing those tracks that hits their audience easiest. To live up the performance the band got joined by a prima ballerina in black. Tumbling, turning and spinning around while the guys bring their provocative sounds he moves in between the band members. A somehow hilarious addition that you certainly did not expect. It certainly got the attention from the people quite fast and brings a nice opening of the night.

Death-Thrash formation Deathchain was playing second tonight. Armed with a new release that will come out in the first week of April the band has some new ammo to wow their audience with. Maybe on the show level the guys seem to fade away a bit, as the intensity of their performance comes with the solid sound the band is producing. Yet, the band contains some characters that make them stand out anyhow. Their vocalist, which goes under the name K.J.Chaos, makes an strong impression and with the two guitarists on their side that have playing some good riffs in their job description the band has not really any trouble with making a convincing presence come alive. While all the other band have regular Tempelores mentions already, this band is probably the most surprising one here and that turned out to be a nice one!

Fear of Domination was ready to bring people an experience that people would not forget at all. Be fast, be quick one second of letting your eyes get away from the stage and you are far behind already! Various pyro effects, plenty of other show elements and surprises are showing up soon enough. So good when after a while some songs were played and the music steps forward more. That’s what we have been waiting for. Fair to say that those moments are highlighting the band even more for what they can do and maybe confirm that, even if it is a pleasant happening to observe, all the theatre is not needed to be impressed by this band. So, was it all too much show for one show? Who shall tell, extraordinary and memorable at least and to have something that sticks in mind long is never a bad thing while a band is working on a new album.

Of course Turmion Kätilöt were the king of show ever before. The reputation they have is now in a strong competition tonight though. Nevertheless the band is having their own thing going on as always and not ceased to entertain us this time either. Before the band comes on stage the audience gets a chance to listen to the brand new single “Jalopiina” and starts cheering for them already. Mc Raaka Pee, vocalist of the band, is back after some medical issues and when the curtains open he shows that nothing will stop him making music and giving a mighty performance. With a cane in his hands and his head up high he looks into the venue as an ancient king views over his kingdom. With them playing some tracks from their first albums the audience easily got into a dancing mood and the band had therefore not too much of a task in conquering the crowd. Besides that, the band had as usual a little entertainment for them as well and have some friends hanging around at their show. Turmion Kätilöt played a show just as we know them, and with a glimpse of the new album right before it all started the band have relight the flame of their fans obviously.
