After many solo work and collaborations with other bands Amanda Somerville now has her own project called Trillium. At the moment they are touring the UK as support act for Magnum, promoting the Trillium and their album ‘Alloy’. We took the opportunity for a chance to go to the gig, with thanks to Trillium’s tour manager Paul Simons – without him this would not have been possible.

Many people were there for the main act, but there was a good response on the performance of Trillium during this reasonably intimate gig. Amanda’s voice (and looks) got the attending fans up off their feet and the music was well received by the crowd. The rocking guitar riffs, awesome bass and tremendous drum playing all contributed to an excellent atmosphere. A good variety of songs from their latest album ‘Alloy’ were performed; I won’t spoil the fun by revealing the exact set list. For me the highlight of the set was ‘Coward’ – effortlessly performed to perfection.

You will have to go and see them for yourself to experience the full capabilities of this band to appreciate their music. They are as good live as they sound on the CD – which, by the way, was bought in large quantities from the merchandise stand. After they finished their support set, which lasted almost an hour, Amanda came to the merchandise stand to meet her fans, have photos taken with them and sign CD’s. Fan made positive comments regarding the performance and the music, especially as most of them had never heard of Amanda Somerville or Trillium. All in all a very good evening!
