Supports: Deviant UK; Venue: LVC, Leiden (Netherlands)

LVC was hosting some industrial bands this evening, besides that the bands would play there was also an industrial after party scheduled. The band Deviant UK and the German band Project Pitchfork were up for conquering the stage.
Deviant UK were first. The rockers from the UK had a electronic drum set which was quite in front of the stage, not only because Project Pitchfork would use their own drums later, but also because these drums are kind of the foundation of their music. Their attempt of making EBM was kind of unsuccessful as the audience stood there watching it quite indifferent. Hardly anyone felt like dancing and that was mainly due to the screaming vocals which were unpleasant to hear. A change of vocal style would be a great idea for improving the outcome of this band for sure. The lowest of low points was when the band played a cover of their favorite band Project Pitchfork: “Timekiller”. Not really a smart move as most of the Project Pitchfork fans probably prefer the original version more. Seen all the staring faces with the “ are they kidding?” question marks in their eyes the audience must have thought the same. Bummer!
Up next was Project Pitchfork. How do you get a full venue to dance in two minutes? Just put these Germans on the stage and it will happen. They have quite a reputation already, earned by many years of hard work and great music. Though the band does not feel like playing all their greatest hits at once. The band communicates a lot with the audience, talking to them, encourage to speak louder because he can’t hear them onstage, apologize to someone in the front row after accidentally dropping a microphone stand on him. Halfway through the set, Dirk complained to the light techs that he was sick of standing in blue light only, if they perhaps could provide him with another color. He had been moving his keyboard a couple of times before already. The light techs decided to give him some green. He did not please that either and now all of them started to talk about what color they like. They went on and after that the band got some more neutral lights. The set was about two hours long, showing the band gave their audience worth their money. The band got asked to play “ Steelrose” and they almost desperately looked at eachother like: “oh no, not again”. It is clear the band want to show they have way more in their discography than just the various hits. They also played “Timekiller” which we heard before this evening by their support act but this time everyone was dancing and enjoying it. The last encore of the band sounded a bit rushed though. They played over two hours and it was time for them to leave this stage permanently. Project Pitchfork thought us how to get people to dance tonight!
