Christina Stürmer is an Austrian musician, who had a breakthrough in 2003 after participating in a casting show in Austria. Since then she and her band have sold many albums, released five albums and just put their sixth out to the market.
The new album is called “In Dieser Stadt” (In this town) and is sung completely in German. The music is melodic rock with a lot of emotions put into them. This album is more thoughtful than a dancing and rock-along album. So don’t expect it to kick your ass with fast riffs and tunes. Yet is it very beautiful to listen to. “Bleib Hier” (stay here) is a very slow and thoughtful song which is making you sight listening to it. “Ist Mir Egal” (I don’t care) begins with a bass intro, a quite strong and full song. This one sounds like a typical anthem to sing along and I can well imagine the crowd interaction for this one when performed live. “Mehr Als Perfekt” (More Than Perfect) is the ballad on the album, slow and sad it sounds, a very heart-touching song. “Im Kreis” (in a circle) is a quite angry song. “Niemals Hoffnungslos” (Never Hopeless) is quite punky and harsh and doesn’t quite fit into the rest of the album at the first listen, but fits in better after you listened to it more than once. You can also find a hidden bonus track on the album which is piano and Christina singing only. The album booklet is held in red, black and white and has a linear around the case, quite interesting to look at.
