The USA band Christian Mistress is from the USA. They make Heavy Metal and their debut album “Agony & Opium” came out in 2010. Now the band comes with a second release via Relapse Records and it is called “Possession”.
The band’s previous release was a big hit and therefore we were more than excited to hear back from this band. They still embrace that old-school sound, as if its recorded years ago, filthy raw as it is. Vocals that remind a bit to Juliette Lewis, to mention a large name, but be aware that this femme has a personality of her own and make that come through in the sound. Quite next to that it are the guitars that make an impression. A variety of riffs, keeping you entertained throughout the album. It is that typical punkish attitude of them that brings you something new every second. Then the band does make sure the drums and bass have a very well deserved spot in their sound also, a good balance is made and that shows also their progression compared to their previous release. A tiny step towards now, yet embracing the old sound they had this band makes a statement. An album you must have if you liked the previous one. A good following up!
