Roses is sixth studio album by Irish band The Cranberries. It is produced by Stephen Street and it is the band’s first studio release in ten years.
Who does not know The Cranberries? Various hits are on their name and although the band was in hiatus for a decade, they now return with a new release. “Roses” still carries that characteristic sound that the band got their fame for, but the songs appear to be a bit more mellow. They took a romantic tour as there are quite a number of ballads to be found on this release and there are fewer songs that bring a lot of power to their sound. But it is not all happy happy, joy joy. Overall the album has a slightly dark mood over it and this may be a point you need to get used to. Yet the band has some true treasures. Songs like “Losing My Mind” and ”Raining In My Heart” are tracks that stick in mind and really grab back to that feeling you had while listening to their older material. So “Roses” is a modern version of the confidential sound of The Cranberries. You still get what you expect, but yet a little more anno 2012.
