Pollination organised another event in Utrecht. This night it was up for Kristal & Jonny Boy and Martha Jane Settler to play.

Kristal & Jonny Boy are two Swedish musicians that makes a bit dreamy indie/pop music. The minimalistic sound they create gets accompanied with some dance moves. Bit of ballet, but maybe not the most interesting part of the performance as for that to make an impression there is probably more space needed. One song may be a bit more mellow that the other, when different moods run through their set the duo seems quite happy to play here this evening. The music is accessible with the remark on it that in the performance Jonny Boy falls a bit behind as Kristal draws the most attention. Furthermore, simply a pleasant set.

Martha Jane Settler was once the frontchick of PunkPopRock formation Clayborn and after the band disbanded she got her own way. Tonight on stage with her live band The Sleepovers which shows a familiar face as well. As a singer/songwriter you get to see a whole different side of this femme and the character of her stands out clearly. Some songs were a bit whiney, going on and on with an end that seems to run faster that your brains would wish for but on the other side there are some truly gorgeous songs in there which compliment her vocal style. This results in a quite mixed show. Maybe when a set grows a little more together it could be even stronger.
