Evadne is a Spanish formation created in 2000. The band makes Melodic Doom/Death. “The Shortest Way” is the band’s second full length release and it is out now.
The band starts the doom atmosphere already on the cover art of the album, see it and you immediately get what kind of music you may expect. Melodic Death with Doom mixed. Vocally there are both clean vocals as well as the deeper sound, like you hear in many releases in this genre. Though the stress of the album is definitely not in the vocals as they tend to fall a bit in the background, bringing the attention more towards the instrumental part. The guitars are driving the music and this brings you into a dreamy atmosphere, sometimes accompanied with some keys to strengthen this. Although the band plays around with the tensions, there might be a little more of that. The songs are quite long and when hearing the whole album it comes to notice that they are maybe a bit too much alike. Yet, the album is to recommended for Doom/Death fans. It releases on 12 December so perhaps a good tip to put this album of a band growing towards the potential they have on your Christmas wish list.
