16-11-2011 Bush

Supports: Evaline; Venue: 013, Tilburg (Netherlands)
By: Elvira Visser

The Californaian band Evaline was the support act from Bush, a band who many would not know.

This beeing the first introduction to this band, who will have their debut CD released next year in the Netherlands. Although this band makes different music that Bush I guess that the audience gave them a fair chance, and they took it. The crowd seem to enjoy their quite unique sound. Making it really hard to describe what kind of music they make. Nice songs with melody and the brilliant thing that worked for them is the flow of the gig, which was really good. Really building up some sort of climax with their last song where they used different drums to add to this feeling. Well done for these men. Nice pop/rock songs with great melodies and songs you should really listen to. If you are curious about their music you should google their video “There There” which they played as well and got a little bit sang along done. If this did not triggered to listen to them you should wait for the interview we did with these passionate guys. That they are passionate about their own music is something you can notice on stage. They seem to enjoy every minute on stage and do not seem to focus much on giving a great show but more to their own playing, but them being so enthousiastic they do give a great show. I say well done to this fairly new band!

The audience clearly came to see Bush as the audience was pretty much all older then me, which is something new. The venue was packed with people and cheering when the lights went off, the first tones of “chemical’s between us” released a big cheering and I guess I have not often heard so many people sang along with the band that are not teens any more. Especially with the older songs from the album “sixteen stone” got the audience wild. However it was great to see this band on stage, and for some after 15 years actually being the first time seeing the band. Bush played a great gig but we were not blown away. Maybe it is hard for a band that mainly lives on his success from back in the days. Of course they released a new album but most of the people in the crowd were fans from 15 year back in time. Maybe therefore people got a very high expectation. Not that Bush has let us down, because what they played was simply good and amazing. Also amazed about the energy that Gavin Rossdale has in him, jumping around on the stage at the beginning but also at the end of their set. It was a really good gig and I guess many people and me were happy they played numerous old tracks. I have finally seen a band that I adored during high school, but somehow the did not blow me away. I am curious how the new album will do and what Bush future will bring us.
