The Amsterdam Red Light District is an hardcore band from Lyon, France. The band started in 2005 and got their debut album “Dear Diary” out in 2010.
Obviously the name of the band may have brought the illusion they are Dutch, but no, France it is. They are doing quite well having Rockstar Energy supporting them. The formation mixes hard core, punk and rock to get a their style that is simply filled with attitude. The instrumental part works out quite well. The drums are quite upfront and more dominant than needed, but the vocals push them back a bit when needed. In the guitars there might be some more of a surprise brought in. It tends to be a bit basic which is a pity as in the moments they show that there surely is some of it in there. Unleash the beast and give it some more drama to spice it up some more.
The vocals are done quite well. Not too standard, but not too dominant in the mix either. In general the songs are varied enough to keep us entertained throughout the album which, as closer, includes a featuring with James Isaiah Munoz, singer of the Texan band The Bled on the title song.
