10-09-2011 Justin Sane

Supports: Hello Pied Piper; Venue: Feinstaub, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Saturday night, a warm night, and a special one: Justin Sane, the singer of Anti-Flag was in town and played an acoustic set in a little pub in Frankfurt tonight. But before he began playing on the little stage, Hello Pied Piper was up first.

The venue was small, the stage was tiny, and the audience room was packed. Everybody was curious for the night and both artists. Hello Pied Piper is a German singer songwriter, a nice guy with a great voice and songs full of emotions. Slow and thoughtful, going strait into your heart and brain, sending out good vibes to the listener. He stood there on stage, all by himself, performing his songs, one after another. While the audience was reassuring him after each song, cheering, swaying along, dancing and supporting him all the time. He played for almost an hour. A wonderful chilled out performance. Away from haste and hectic.

Now Justin Sane was up. He was currently on a Germany tour solo. Playing acoustic songs of his own on his own. The singer of Anti-Flag told stories before and after each song, telling how he wrote it, what it is all about or what inspired him to this songs. Some political, some private and intimate. The audience was following his lips with every word he spoke or sung. Interesting stories and great acoustic songs could not hide his punk core though. Every now and then he jumped around and screamed as if it was a big punk show, while it was only him with his acoustic guitar. He played old and new songs, the little pub was getting hotter and hotter. People sang and moved along to some songs. One of the last songs was the Anti-Flag song “1 Trillion Dollars”. A song we all knew. It was a wonderful evening with two amazing artists. I hope this kind of event will recur some day.
