The Finnish “pop metal band” Manzana has released their second album at 24th of September. “Babies of Revolution” it is called and they are hitting the Finnish charts with it at the moment.
Manzana got their first big success with the song “Falling To Pieces”. Manzana is an (poisonous) apple. This comes back in the artwork of “Babies of Revolution”.
Instrumentally you can expect some heavy guitars, steady metal riffs and deep bass lines. Vocals are more poppy and catchy. The impression of the album is mostly that they have a lot of songs who are easily to sing along. Hear them a couple of times and the lyrics are stuck in your head. “Panda Girl”, their latest released single, is a perfect example of that.
In the song “Near Death Experience” you hear a breaking trend compared to the rest of the album. At has a spookier atmosphere, the sound is more dramatic and it takes the grin of my face to think about the more serious side of the lyrics.
“World Is A Vampire” is a song which brings back the catchiness. It might not be the most original songs, while the riffs are so recognizable, but I bet it is a great song for seeing live.
Overall I can conclude that their guitarist is probably a fan of the biggest bands in nowadays metal scene, since the influences of those bands are pretty obvious in his work.
It gives the band its harder sound, so it should not be seen as a bad thing.
“Babies of Revolution” is a nice pop album which you can easily listen from the start to the end non stop.
