Supports: There For Tomorrow, While She Sleeps; Venue: Stollwerck, Cologne (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
For a rockstar energy drink event there was hardly any promotion for the drink itself – I personally did not see any promotion, but I am blind and I was late, haha. Anyway, this show was not about the energy drink but the bands! Three bands on tour together to rock the hell out of Europe!
The bands were Silverstein, There For Tomorrow and While She Sleeps. The venue was packed. Even the balcony was full and the air was heating up quickly too. But no wonder with these bands on stage!
As I said before, I was late. So unfortunately I missed most of While She Sleeps. I only saw the last few songs of the UK band, but from what I saw, they rocked already. For the last song the singer tried climbing up the balcony to jump into the crowd, but they were so shocked and surprised that not enough people gathered up to catch his fall. Maybe it will work next time when the audience is prepared a little better. But they definitely rocked too. Too bad I missed most of their performance.
Up next were There For Tomorrow. A rock band from Florida on their first trip to Germany. They were stoked to play and the audience – including me – were stoked to see them. And There For Tomorrow rocked! They played for about 40 minutes. The music was catchy rock music combined with an amazing voice and a lot of energy on stage. I “friended” them on all possible social web pages right away and I saw many others doing so as well. That speaks for the band, right? There For Tomorrow also played some brand new tracks, hardly anyone would have noticed though if they hadn’t announced it that way, because not many people knew There For Tomorrow before tonight. But there were some people that knew most of the songs and could even sing along. Amazing. The guys were overwhelmed and thanked Cologne after every song for rocking out that much. Each band member was wearing a wrist band with TFT on it. A sweet idea, as I think. I wonder how many people actually noticed that. The crowd was going crazy during There For Tomorrow, energized by the band and music. Which energized the band and so both sides kept moving and rocking. Simply amazing! I hope we get to see – and hear – a whole lot more of these guys soon! I was and still am impressed! There For Tomorrow, check them out! |
But they were not headlining. Yes, even an awesome band like There For Tomorrow can be topped. Silverstein did that tonight. By the way the audience reacted when Silverstein entered the stage, you could tell that they were all there mainly for Silverstein. The audience went insane from the very first second on and would not stop until the bitter end – whether that was people passing out of the heat or the band being done playing! The venue had heated up a whole lot and it had gotten a little hard to breathe but that didn’t stop anybody. The Canadians rocked the masses. There were circle pits, people tried some crowd surfing – until they got stopped by security – and simply rocked however they could. The audience sang along to each song. Silverstein even played some brand new songs off their upcoming album which will be released b the end of April (the review for that album will be up here to, so stay tuned!). And Silverstein also played some old classics. Thanking the audience and crew, they covered some songs. For one song the merch guy Tim came up on stage to join on the vocals. The singer even went into the audience, to stand on top of it, held up by the hands of his fans to sing! Amazing! As encore they played two acoustic songs as well as a goodbye song with the entire band. It was a brilliant night. Everyone had a blast. Silverstein definitely know how to rock stages and get their audience to rock along. Stay tuned for their new album and make sure to check the guys out on some festivals! |
