Supports: Never Ending Story; Venue: ZwölfZehn, Stuttgart (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
A little club somewhere in the center of Stuttgart, called ZwölfZehn, is where I spent my Tuesday night for this week.
Templeton Pek from Birmingham were playing there tonight. The venue was filling up slowly but surely, all stoked to see Templeton Pek on their first headlining tour through Germany. The opening band for tonight was a band called Never Ending Story. Never Ending Story is a German rock band from Göppingen. The five piece rocked the little stage in the club for about thirty minutes before Templeton Pek entered the stage. Never Ending Story have two CDs released as of now and played songs off both. Reminding a little of 3 Doors Down or Creed style-wise, they put up a great show. |
After a quick change over it was time for Templeton Pek to rock the stage. Templeton Pek is a UK punk trio that released their debut album in 2009 and has just released their follow-up “Scratches and Scars” with which they are now touring through Germany. The audience was still standing quite far away as Templeton Pek entered the stage, so the trio would move up into the audience room until the audience would get closer to the stage. So it happened that either singer or guitar player would be standing in the audience room amidst the fans playing the songs. The music was catchy and energizing. Hard to believe that the band is still small and unknown, because they sounded like one of the big fishes like lets say Bouncing Souls, Sum41 or even Green Day. But I am sure they will get there soon as they are working hard and won’t ever give up. It took a while until the audience was warm and opened up to the music and the band but then it was a very familiar atmosphere and the show turned into a living room concert, audience and band became one. Some people could sing along to the songs, but everyone was at least tapping along to the beats. Templeton Pek thanked the audience after each song. The guys played songs off both of their albums and made time fly by. What a brilliant show, I can’t wait to see them on festival stages this summer!
