40 Watt Sun – The Inside Room

Releasedate: 04-03-2011; Label: Cyclone Empire
By: Sabine van Gameren

40 Watt Sun is the new music project of singer/guitarist/songwriter Patrick Walker, best known for his previous band, Warning (UK). Their album “The Inside Room” is out now.

The British trio makes doom metal, but with the quite light voice of Patrick Walker over it, you come into a dreamy sort of music, letting in a little light between the doom dark surrounding. Fans have been awaiting this album for a long time. Accompanied by drummer Christian Leitch and bass plaser William Spong, Patrick created five long tracks giving a variance of melodies, rhythms that drag you into the music and above all depression. What captures you most are the melodic parts that open up the music, making of accessible for a larger group of music fans. People who are familiar with Warning’s “Walking From A Distance” might be aware that this new album follows up on it quite well.
If you listen carefully you might hear acoustic elements in the album which seems quite subtle but yet it sets you to a break, a bit variation to keep it all exciting.
“The Inside Room” is an album that listens easily and will reach wider than the Doom Metal genre only. People will enjoy the intensity of the music and found comfort in the vocals. A strong release from this British trio. That more of this may follow!
