Transit Poetry had set themselves to a goal. The German gothic rockers wanted to release four album. Each of them would represent one of the four elements (earth, air, water and fire). The first one got released in 2004 and anno 2011 the band completed their project with the release of the fourth album called “Pedestrians In The Sky”.
Obviously this album comes with the theme ‘air’ and you can feel that quite strongly from the start on. It has a dreamy atmosphere but when looking at the song titles at first, you might get the impression the band got into a spaceship and floats somewhere between earth and any planet of choice. Musically the band has a quite minimalistic approach. Vocals are most upfront with mainly instrumental backup coming from guitars.
There is slight touch of the keyboard that is mainly there to stronger the atmosphere set by the vocals and guitars. Occasionally, in an intro the keys seem more present and influential. The album seems a bit society critical which may not be that surprising considering the concept.
“Pedestrians In The Sky” is calm album, listens easily but don’t expect it to give you some harder rock. It is the final album in this series and with its fifteen songs maybe a bit long for those who are more into up-tempo music.
