Eljuri is a singer from Ecuador, currently residing in New York. Musically she makes latin music and with some tough guitar pose on the cover of her new album “Reflexión”, we decided to review it anyway.
This album, which is the fifth on her name, is filled with songs in Spanish and some in English. A catchy tune is often the base of it and that combined with a raw voice, not too polished in the mix she creates some songs that listen easily. The way the guitars are used shows that the musicians are inspired by a wide range of music, some rock on the base as well.
The vocals are brought with a passionate power behind them, maybe not easy to grab the content if you don’t speak Spanish (like me) but they way they are performed makes you feel like there is much behind the words. Looking at the songs which I liked most you come down to “Shelter”, “Por Ti” and “Feeds You”.
So Eljuri is not the typical artist our magazine writes about but we do look around every once in a while to pick up something radically different. Because we can appreciate music also outside the range of what we are mostly along with. “Reflexión” is an easy to listen release that has a lot to listen to for those who are into guitars and that are many amongst our readers.
