06-02-2011 Emergenza Acoustic

Venue: Nachtleben, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Emergenza is back! Or rather: We are back at Emergenza! Tonight they had their acoustic set in Frankfurt, which is basically like the regular Emergenza shows: Seven newcomer bands perform and the audience has to vote for whose show they liked. Usually you have three votes. Tonight you could vote for everyone though. The winner gets a price, tonight the top four got a price. The first was an acoustic guitar, second till fourth were gift vouchers at a music shop. Everyone had a set of 30 minutes max!

Nachtleben was sold out. But since the bands sold the tickets to their fans, not all stayed for all bands. Throughout the middle of the night the venue was packed and everyone seemed to be present though.

Breitenbach
First band of the night was Breitenbach. They came as a duo. One on keyboards and one on guitar. Both were singing. The guys talked a lot with the audience. A great opening performance for an amazing night. Breitenbach’s songs went deep, not only because it was an acoustic set. They definitely put up an awesome acoustic show. No wonder they got many votes.

What A Catch
Second band of the night was What A Catch. Probably the youngest band of the night, but they put up an amazing acoustic performance. Very catchy and infecting the audience to go along. The cheering was loud and the votes were many. What A Catch was definitely a good catch for the audience’s eyes and ears!

Logpoint
Acoustic sets are even more nerve-wrecking than regular shows because loud amps and distorted guitar are not present to over sound any wrong note! So it was more than normal that Logpoint were nervous at first. But there was no need. Their acoustic set was great and the audience loved them. Logpoint brought along quite some fans who cheered for them and could even sing along to the songs. The hit of the band seemed to be a song called “Vodka”, a fun and drinking song they introduced with a beer drinking contest with one of the audience!

Dynyle,
A metal band playing acoustic. Always a challenge. But Dynyle made it possible and rocked the house. Everyone loved their awesome acoustic performance. Instead of a regular bass they used a double bass! Especially unplugged you could tell the strong influence System Of A Down had on their music. But it still didn’t sound copied. Dynyle had played at quite some regular Emergenza shows before, so people knew and loved them already. For everyone who didn’t, they would like them now. Only, I am not sure if some of the new “fans” will like Dynyle amped. Not many bands can rock an acoustic set like they did. They absolutely deserved being one of the Top 4!

Charlie Waldschmidt Music,
After all these guys on stage it was about time for a female to rock the acoustic stage. Piano and acoustic guitar only along with the beautiful voice of Charlie definitely warmed everyone’s hearts. With her soft voice, that could also come out very strong, touched everyone with the deep lyrics that at least every female was able to relate to. A very beautiful half an hour with a beautiful duo!

The Ugly Two And The Half Naked Cowboy,
As a rockabilly at heart I spotted the double bass the second I entered the venue. And here they were: The Ugly Two And The Half Naked Cowboy were the ones it belonged to! An old-school threesome looking very rockabilly and traditional. Double-bass, vocals and a washboard! The audience just loved them. Catchy tunes got everybody dancing along. The three rocked around on stage and owned it big time. No surprise they won the grand prize. The Ugly Two And The Half Naked Cowboy were definitely an amazing band!

Good Night Monday,
The evening was coming closer to an end and Nachtleben was getting a little emptier. But Good Night Monday still rocked this Sunday night, unplugged and acoustic. Awesome songs, great voices and catchy music made you at least tap along to their rock music.

Eva Croissant
She played last. Only Eva Croissant and her piano set up on stage. A voice like an angel, high pitched and very girly she sang her songs and talked to the audience that had shrunken to only a handful of people. In between her songs she told the audience a little about her self and the songs she sung. Sweet and innocent music by a sweet and innocent girl.
