Despite only still being in his late 20s James Walbourne’s musical pedigree is already an enviable one. Stints playing live with the likes of The Pernice Brothers, Son Volt, Jay Farrar and The Pogues and session work with Jerry Lee Lewis, Edwyn Collins and Linda Thompson amongst others have gained him a respect beyond his years.
Now he has released his debut album called “The Hill” which he will also be presenting live in the UK in January and February. With an acoustic guitar and a strong voice James Walbourn leads you through his ten new songs which he picked for “The Hill”. A typical singer / songwriter sound with catchy tunes makes you instantly fall in love with this album. “Cocaine Eyes” is a pure country song. The entire album “The Hill” assures you of one thing: James Walbourn is an amazing singer / songwriter that can easily be compared to legends like Johnny Cash. So let’s see what the future brings. I personally hope that he will make it to the big stages of the world, but with his music and talent I am sure he will make it.
