Hideous Divinity is an Italian Death Metal formation formed 2007. The band released four full length albums and now releases an EP called “LV-426”.
Hideous Divinity is a band we came across at a diversity of festivals like Amsterdam Metalfest or Stonehenge. With their Technical approach they amazed us with their performances and also the last album had some plays here. This new EP they are releasing has only three tracks so hopefully they are interesting to keep us looking forward for our next rendez-vous.
The first track is called “Acheron, Stream of Woe”. It set the atmosphere right there. A heavy and haunting start of the track leads towards brutal sound we got to know them from. Almost seven minutes of organized chaos are following, because the band is quite precise in their dosing. Never too much, never too little. Here and there a bit proggy reference.
Following up is the track “Chestburst” which seem to take it a step up from the previous one. The band brings in a lot variety in this track, some playing around with tempo to make that bouldering track give you some time to catch up. The drums are quite interesting here, more upfront than you may have expected.
Last track on the EP appears to be a cover of Coheed and Cambria. A great track, but for such a small release you may have hoped for more of their own work. It does its job for teasing the listener for an upcoming release.
Concluding this all, you come to think that this band has grown so much and with this EP in hands it seems like they are more prominent than ever. An excellent exhibition of their skills and leaves us yearning for the a full length. Or live show. Both!
