Svarta Sanningar is a Swedish occult post-rock and dark metal band. The band is founded in 2017 in and has members of the gothic metal band Beseech on board. In November 2018 they released their first EP “Kapitel 1”. Anno 2021 the band returns with a second EP “Kapitel 2”.
The band’s lyrics are in Swedish so for the international crowd maybe a bit of a challenge to get into. The name translates to Black Truths we were told. They also supply lyrics to grasp the feel of what they are about and we can confirm there lays some darkness into that for sure. Occultism is to be found in their music and this is brought with a lot of melancholy. Friedrich Kunath kind of melancholy. Those who have listened to Beseech before will recognize the hand of Klas in the music.
The first track on the EP is called “Kemisk Reinkarnation”, the band made a video of this song as well, a nice start. The melodic side of this album eases you into it and introduces to a bit of a catchy feel. “Preparatet” is a bit heavier and seems to have a dramatic atmosphere. Advice is to take the lyrics on side here to make sure you get the whole of it for an expanded experience of darkness.
“Ett Ockult Hospital” is a bit more subdued in this EP. One song you just calmly listen to and leads up to the last one. “Den Sista Sprutan” is following up nicely. A bit sad touch, but with a beautiful built towards the end.
Altogether Svarta Sanningar has released a strong EP. The band has a clear vision of what they want to tell the world and brings it in a beautiful way. For non-Swedish speakers it requires a bit more effort to get the max out of it, but surely worth the time.
