About a year ago we got the “White Crow” release by Ledfoot, a collaboration with Ronni Le Tekrø followed and right now we have “Black Valley” in our hands. A busy man that with his Gothic Blues, as he calls it himself, has much to give.
The melancholic bluesy feel from “White Crow” is recognizable in “Black Valley” as well. Straightforward songs that are not hiding behind mystic too much. You get what it is right in front of you. He even says ‘what’s the point in lying’ (in “Without Love”) and that certainly can be drawn further.
‘Im not chasing after rainbows, I am colorblind’ he says in “Broken Eyes” a moody sentence with very sad tone, the song is touching you deeply, one of the highlights of the release. But beyond that there are plenty more songs to enjoy. For example the tragic “This I know” which is slow and dramatic in a way. The beauty here is in the details and you are granted the time to enjoy it deeply.
This album is a personal one, but something people can relate to. Time is catching up on everyone at some point in life and that comes with feelings about it, but channeling these into a dark bluesy sound like Tim does with this Ledfoot release is not something that is given to just everyone. “Black Valley” is a bit sad, tragic and melancholic, but above all it touches your soul while listening. A beautiful release, that shows that beauty is not forbidden in the dark edges of the music spectrum.
