Bjørn Berge is a Norwegian artist that makes rock music with blues influences. Last year we received “Who Else?” and this year he returns with a brand new album. It is called “Heavy Gauge” and it is available now.

The previous release landed well, not only at our magazine but also internationally it received a lot of praise and with “Heavy Gauge” he has a good follow up. Some catchy tracks full of blues, rock, groove, folk and whatever crosses the day has been blended in the unique sound of Mr. Berge.

In the third track on this release, “Bound To Ramble” we briefly had to think of Sivert Høyem‘s style of singing. The two of them would make an interesting match for sure.

Some songs have a grungy feel over it, “Alone Again” is for example a rather raw track that you can see in great contrast with the song right after it. “Coliseum” is a bit dark and diverse in many ways but has a whole different flow to it. But a favorite on this release would be the uptempo “The Wrangler Man” as the vocals and guitars are strengthening each other as cat and mouse game, intriguing spectacle so to say.

The strength of Bjørn Berge is back with “Heavy Gauge”. The ability to blend is such a diversity of styles and create an album that sounds so much like a unity is not given to everyone. After fourteen albums it seems like there is still so much space for the experiment in the music, with an album like this as result is what we can listen to with joy.
