Swedish stalwarts Wolfbrigade are true believers. These crusty war dogs have been kicking up dust since the 90s and don’t seem to be slowing down. Back just two years after their 2017 opus, Run with the Hunted, they have returned with force. The Enemy: Reality, the band’s seventh album and a tour-de-force in its own right.

While Wolfbrigade remain true to themselves, things have changed somewhat. In The Enemy:Reality Wolfbrigade depart from the crusty, blackened aesthetic of their previous release in favor of some spices. There is more rock’n’roll and thrash in the mix this time. The band seems to be trying to arrive at crust punk via Motörhead and Megadeth by adding these influences into to their sound. The result is rock solid. As skillful and catchy riffs beat you down, short song lengths and a sense of urgency drives things forward. Wolfbrigade know how to go hard and, better yet, they know how to entertain while doing it. Every song is as full of violent intensity as they are full of cheesy fun and one need not look any further than The Wolfman or Hammer to the Skull for proof.
The Enemy: Reality might be two years old already, but it grooves, rages, raves and smashes. Look no further if you want some hardcore punk-influenced crust with rock’n’roll and thrash sauce mixed in.
