Hardcore Metal formation Against The Flood is based in the UK. In the first days of 2011 the band released their new EP which is self-titled.
The band have perhaps not a very refreshing idea on music, however they have made an EP that is well balanced. Guitars can surprise every once and a while when they take on the lead, it ain’t always the vocals that draws the most of attention. A modest part of the shine goes to the drums. Drummer Dan Spry works himself in the picture on subtle moments. It is sometimes a bit of a friendly game within the band, giving and taking but all showing their own personality. Weakness of the band lies in the deeper grunts. These vocal parts could technically improve to get to the level of the rest. As a whole on this EP a slight bit more variation could have been included. You get the impression they are able to bring way more diversity than you can hear in these five songs. A whole album filled with those songs would be too much, so perhaps that is one point the band could work on. Furthermore this is a steady release, showing a band that is ready to start on the bigger adventure, to get on the road and built some more international fame.
