[YT] Gravenchalice – Apparition

Gravenchalice is a mystery. The band has no label. They have no drummer or bass player, even though they have both instruments. They have only one release. Apparition, their debut, appeared without warning in 2020, as if summoned, not made. Maybe this has something to do with the band being based in Florida, maybe not. What we know for sure is that they are masters of black metal.

Apparition is a master class in what black metal is capable of. Featuring a mix of black, death and doom, the album has all the grim and dark one can ask for. Tremolo picked guitars bear down on the listener with crushing riffs as blast beats pummel the audience into submission. The vocals growl, shout and menace, telling tales of woe and sin. Coupled with detours into atmospheric black and with a touch of the psychedelic, Apparition is a wonder straight from the netherworld.
