Violet Sun is a project by the Italian Dario Grillo. Expect some progressive, symphonic music coming from the man’s hands. “Loneliness in Supremace” is out now.
Although the band is female fronted, the actual pearl of the band can’t be found in vocals. Those are stereotypical and not standing out for being the best around in the scene. No, Violent Sun is more about the instrumentals. There is way more to like when focusing on these. Melodically well arranged with a surprising hook here and there. The band shows to be building on something towards something more original. Honestly, they are not giving us really inspiring music but besides those things you heard before and better you get surprised, which leaves the door open for some expectations in the future.
What is kind of stinging a bit that the male vocals seemed to pushed away while they are quite pleasant. Female vocals seemed sometimes uncontrolled and the strength that comes with the male vocals does the band much good. Sometimes really saving a song.
“Loneliness In Supremacy” is the album of a band that is still in its puberty. Trying some out here and there, embracing the hero’s but struggling to get their own identity woven into it. Give it some time, they will figure it out.
