Caladmor is coming from Switzerland. They aim to fit in the Folk/pagan scene and “Midwinter” is their most recent release.
As if the world of stereotypes isn’t large enough already, Caladmor comes, with female vocals, as just another band doing their thing. What will you do when you listen a band for the first time and you can already predict how the riffs will go further from the point where are listening. Either you saw the band live sometimes (check, no we did not) or the first thought seems to be reality; they are just not very original. Of course, starting a band with a pretty vocalist has some pro’s but Barbara just is not the best singer. At least not to judge on this album. The concept in this music has been done too often to come with an average or even below average release so unfortunately “Midwinter” does not stand out. If they think of making another release some vocal training seems mandatory and the band should try to give their own interpretation to the music instead of figuring out what worked for others.
This release, I wish I could say it nicer, will not ever return to my stereo ever.
