Sammy Brue is an American Singer Songwriter who has been touring quite a bit already. With a bit of Rock and Roll on his hands he came to this new album called “Crash Test Kid” which is out now.
The youngster that he is managed to put down a quite mature sound. Some cheerful tunes are to be found, some lighthearted things like a song called “Fishfood” can put a smile on your face but when looking for a bit more body you are served just as well. A track like “Teenage Mayhem” has a bit of a spicy touch that at the very least will make your head move up and down. The more raw edge is found in a track like “Skatepark Domesday Blues”.
You can safely say that the album is coming from quite a range of genres. Influences that made the music so diverse, but Sammy Brue still manages to tie it together into a solid sound of his own. Here and there there is some place to define himself even more to give the shapes of is musical identity a bit harder lines but there is time for that.
Maybe he is still finding himself after all but “Crash Test Kid” is a nice product of that search. With some years we expect to see some more releases being out and hopefully some shows that open a new audience for this guy.
