The Shadow Theory is a band that formed in 2008. They are coming from the USA and they release their debut album “Behind The Black Veil” right now.
The name Devon graves might sound familiar to you if you know bands like Dead Soul Tribe, Aslan and Psychotic Waltz. Or else you might have found him as a guest in Ayreon, but in The Shadow Theory he shows you the typical music like as given in the mentioned named, but this comes with a slightly creepy atmosphere. Calm vocals, sometimes reminding me to acts as The Eternal, giving it that doom touch. In some moments the album tend to be a bit like a quilt of Devon his favorite acts, making references to obvious. This seems highly unnecessary. All of the band members seem to come from known bands, so an all star project could have been a bit more original perhaps. But, after all, The Shadow Theory has some good compositions and after listening a couple of times it turns out to be an album that is not forgotten when out of sight. Devon’s vocals are too characteristic for that.”Behind The Black Veil” is a decent album, but maybe to the maximum that could have come out of the hands of these musicians.
