Intro

The Vice is a Swedish black’n’roll band, formed in 2012. They are known for their dirty rock sound with a raw edge and a live set that is quite mindblowing. The band has recently signed a deal with NOBLE DEMON and the sophomore full-length “White Teeth Rebellion” is out this month!

Review

“White Teeth Rebellion” offers us a variety of styles consisting of hard rock, heavy metal with hints of black/death metal. The riffs will keep you hooked right from the start and the dynamic drumming will keep you headbanging! This is not an extremely brutal or an atmospheric record, yet, the melodies as well as the overall tempo will make you feel that darkness. I especially liked how the band defined ‘dark rock’ in way by putting in different styles and interpreting it on their own terms. The songs in general are well-composed and there is no repetition or dull moments; just some fine dark rock’n’roll!

There are certain aspects that could have made this album perfect and one of them is how the songs flow. Even though each song is well-composed, they feel separate from one another. So, the album could have been arranged in a way to make the songs more connected and flow more easily. Another aspect that got me surprised was the element of vocals. I would have expected bombastic and louder vocals complementing the guitars and the drums. All in all, we are talking about heavy styles so one would expect vocals pouring out! However, I had the feeling that the vocals were lost and so it felt silent compared to the other two elements. This could be due to production and is a rather minor aspect though, so let the music speak and enjoy the ride!

“White Teeth Rebellion” is a fine album overall. There are surely some room for improvements but I especially liked the band’s own way of doing dark rock. Definitely recommended to the fans of the darker side of metal!
