Combichrist is currently on “Monsters On Tour” tour with their new album “Making Monsters”. Tonight they stopped in Los Angeles to rock the Music Box. More than 700 people had come out to see this even. The queue outside was huge long before doors opened. The venue ended up being packed. Four bands performed tonight in the old Henry Fonda Theater.
First band tonight was iVardensphere. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, iVardensphere is a band that plays a mixture of tribal tinged industrial, EBM and power noise music. On June 16, 2009 via Synthetic Sounds the band released their full length album entitled Scatterface across Canada. iVardensphere only consisted of some drums and some electro sounds, no vocals. They reminded a bit of an electro version of Stomp. For one song they used glowing drum sticks. The audience seemed to enjoy the band.
Up next was God Module. God Module is a United States-based Dark Electronic band founded in Orlando, Florida in 1999, relocating to western Washington in 2006. The band is currently signed to Metropolis Records in the U.S. and Out of Line Music in Germany. God Module’s founding members were Jasyn Bangert (vocals, synth, programming) and Andrew Ramirez (vocals, synth, programming). The band’s current members are Jasyn Bangert, Courtney Bangert (vocals, live keyboards), and Clint Carney (vocals, live keyboards). Their music was somewhere between industril with distorted vocals and EBM. Their set was extremely short but it got everyone to move along.
Now it was time for Aesthetic Perfection. Aesthetic Perfection is an American electronic-industrial musical project created by Daniel Graves in 2000. The style is reminiscent of many aggrotech, industrial, dance music bands, while also leaning towards commercial pop and alternative music styles. Aesthetic Perfection is signed directly to Bractune Records in the USA and is distributed through Out of Line Records in Europe and more recently, Gravitator Records in the Russia and Death Watch Asia in Japan. Thriving and energetic they got the entire audience to jump and move along until they left the stage. Aesthetic Perfection did not stand still for a second and their music made it impossible to even try doing so. Awesome music and an awesome show you should definitely check out if you get the chance to.
Last band of the night was Combichrist. Combichrist was formed in 2003 by Norwegian Andy LaPlegua (founder of the band Icon of Coil) as an aggrotech project. Their latest album “Making Monsters” has just been released and they now tour with this album. With a video screen instead of a backdrop and Wes Borland as guest guitar player they had an all new show. Powerful from the first to the very last second the band performed old and new songs, thanking the audience for coming out and for their support. The audience was going nuts. Everyone sang and jumped along, clapped and shouted, cheered and wanted more. It was awesome to see how much bigger the shows of Combichrist were in the USA than they were in Europe. It was an amazing show and I was glad I could make it to this one. Combichrist will head over to Europe in mid January. Make sure to check them out. They rock more than ever!
