04-11-2010 Good Charlotte

Venue: City Walk, Universal City California (USA)
By: Nina Mende

Good Charlotte had just released their new album “Cardiology” two days ago and now played a free showcase at Universal City right on the Universal City Walk. Universal built a stage right in front of the Hard Rock Café at City Walk which is meant to stay. In the future many bands will perform there for their fans, for free. Tonight you had to buy the new Good Charlotte CD “Cardiology” to get your wristband which gets you close to the stage and to be able to meet and greet the band after the show. The show was presented by Hard Rock Café, Universal and the radio station Kiss FM. During the wait a DJ played hits to the audience and music videos were being played on the screen above the stage.

Since it was the first show on the newly built stage, there also was an opening ceremony for it. First a marching band came walking towards the stage followed by two canons blasting confetti into the audience before the stage came unwrapped with Good Charlotte on it, hidden in fog. Good Charlotte is an American rock band from Waldorf, Maryland that formed on April 1, 1996. They took their name from the children’s book called “Good Charlotte: The Girls of Good Day Orphanage,” written by Carol Beach York. From the very first second of them playing their songs, the audience went wild singing along and cheering, screaming and shouting how much they loved the band. Some fans had even made posters which they held up during the show. Good Charlotte hadn’t performed live for a while now so – as Joel put it – this was a good rehearsal to get back into shape for the upcoming tour in early 2011 which will start out in Europe. Good Charlotte talked a whole lot to their fans, thanked them and took song requests from them to play. Good Charlotte played a couple songs off the new album like their latest released single “Like It’s Her Birthday” as well as many of their old hits like “The River”, “Lifestyle Of The Rich And The Famous”, “Girls & Boys”, “I Just Wanna Live”, “Get Your Hands Off My Girl” and many others. For more than an hour Good Charlotte rocked the stage like no other. It was an amazing show that left everybody speechless afterwards.
