Cristian Mustaine is the father of the Horror Metal band Blood Thirsty Demons. The project started in 1997 and since that year the band created quite a list of releases. Now the band is signed with My Kingdom Music and this was the opportunity for Cristian to re-record his 2005 album “Let The War Begin” for a reissue this year. Also he comes with a new release, which is called “Misanthrophy”
While this album started with nice intro, the second track on the album comes quite on speed straight away. What is different from the re-release that comes out at the same day as this new release, is that the guitars seem to be more clear. Overall the recording comes over more clean, yet still in chaos as it was, but perhaps a bit more space for each instrument in the compositions. This gives a more open sound. Yet a step into the future if you compare it to the reissued “Let The War Begin”. What is a bit of a pity that the songs on this release don’t seem to have a strong connection with each other. They are all on their selves which gives the idea sometimes that it is just a collection of some random songs. There is only one red thread in it all, which comes from the guitars. Though, the horror comes more forward throughout the whole album. This mainly due the fact that it seems that the songs are made more spacious. More time for all ideas to fit in the song. This makes “Misanthrophy” a more likely album to recommend than what we heard before on the re-release.
