SuperbiA is an Italian metal band making Progressive Death Metal. The band formed in 2002 and after the release of two demo’s it is now time for their debut full length album “Overcoming The Pain”.
SuperbiA kicks in quite strong on their first track in the direction of progressive. Not the most solid start, it’s an experiment thrown into your face. The basic foundation of this band comes in when the vocals come in, though it takes a bit before the vocals and instrumental support come at one line. It appears to be messy, but eventually everything seems to fall into place and when the Death Metal elements getting more overhand it seems to be a band that took shows more confidentiality in what they have created than initially thought.
The rage of vocalist Gemini V. comes in strong, sometimes too dominating perhaps the rest of the band creates a battle against it, but none of them comes out of a winner, which results in both sides fighting to take the lead while they are up to each other instead of next to each other. When there are those moments that they have mutual respect and space for what they do it sounds great but the album as a whole is messy and unbalanced. More teamwork would be appreciated, the quality is there but they may have to think of how to use them better for a next release.
