Venue: Bibelot, Dordrecht (Netherlands)

Poisonblack is currently in Europe for the second part of their Rust Over Europe tour. The first part of the tour took place in May.
Vocalist Ville Laihiala first got known as being singer of metal band Sentenced, but after that band got to rest, Poisonblack became the main project. This year the band released their fourth album “Of Rust And Bones” and the fifth one is getting worked on. The crowd is on their hands tonight, already from the first song on, this set seems to become a set. Also, there was no support act so pretty much everyone in the venue had came specially to see this band. Unfortunately not everyone of the band was here, Janne Markus could not make it to this tour as he is currently on the road with his other band The Man Eating Tree (check back in a couple of days for a review of their show!). He got replaced by Antti Leiviskä. He seemed to be a good replacement, though a little shy for the audience sticking more to his playing rather than being the entertainer of the night. This job is splitter between Ville, who talks with the audience and is just a charismatic person, and Antti Remes who is the bassist of the band and seems to go intense in his playing and radiates this energy all over the crowd. The set of the band included some of the all time classics of the band as “Love Infernal” and “Bear The Cross”, but also had the song “Invisible” which is coming from their latest release and brings an emotional atmosphere in the venue while it is yet a song with a strong body but knows calm moments switched with more intense moments. Songs like these give you Poisonblack at its best. Live is where you get the real feeling of the music when it comes to them. The audience obviously agreed on that and already started cheering for more even before the band had left the stage. Good to know the band is already working on a new release, which makes a return visit of them plausible. |
