Alternative Rock formation Vlad in Tears had their first release coming out in 2006 and has never stopped releasing albums since. So now they are up for album number eight. It is called “Dead Stories of Forsaken Lovers” and it is available now.
As we got used to from these guys they have again presented us with some melodic tunes with somewhat dark, melancholic feel over them. The catchiness of the songs making it easy for you to feel comfortable. Starting the album with “We Die Together” the band immediately shows why album number eight is still a thing for them. They have given their compositions some good thought, switching back and forth in tempo and therefore you keep listening without feeling bored with it. Sometimes they throw in a ballad but our preference goes out to the more up-tempo tracks that they have on the album.
The romantic atmosphere could easily lean to gothic when you combine it with the darkness but the band is not stepping that far into this direction, leaving it open for a larger, more diverse group of listeners. Vlad In Tears also added a whole lot of acoustic tracks to this release. An interesting choice to do so and it suits the band but it is perhaps a bit too much. It speaks for them that they chose different songs for it, not an acoustic version of a song that is also on the album. The listener can therefore hear a different side of them here.
Altogether this new Vlad In Tears album is certainly a nice follow up from their previous work. Catchy and melancholic, in good line of what you heard from them before.
