51koodia is a Finnish band, singing in Finnish. They started 2002 in Joensuu, Finland and have two albums released so far. “Mustat Sydämet” is their third one. 51koodia play melodic rock and are a great live band.
The album begins with an intro, played by an acoustic guitar, and then it goes on with “Odotus”, a quite rocky song. The songs are very melodic and emotional, you put a certain emotion into every songs automatically just by listening to it, even when you don’t understand the lyrics. “Mustat Sydämet”, the song itself, is very easy to sing along, not only for Finnish speaking people. Even non-Finnish speaking people only need to listen to it for a couple times before they can sing along. The lyrics are nice and thoughtful. “jos ei ois ketään kenen puolesta kuolla en tahtoisi elää enää” has some harsh guitar riffs and the name is basically the whole chorus. This song also includes some piano which stands out a little bit.
“Uusi Vankila” is slower with an acoustic guitar again, a very thoughtful song, very touchy and emotional.
The songs on the album are great for dancing along and Hannu’s great voice makes it all sound complete, although the instrumental is great as well.
“Lansimaailma” sounds like a perfect hit for the charts and the radio. This song was also released as a single. “Viimeinen Kyynel” starts out with distorted guitar riffs.
“Tulimeri” and “Hautaruusu” are the most metal-like songs on the whole album, but “Hautaruusu” has a great melody and a nice chorus which is everything else than metal-like.
The last song “Toivomus” is a very slow ballad with acoustic guitar only most of the song. It’s a very somehow sad and very emotional song.
