Ticket to Hell – Man Made Paradise

Releasedate: 18-04-2008; Label: My Kingdom Music
By: Sabine van Gameren

It caused quite some surprised reactions, the cd of Ticket To Hell, when some of my mates were searching for something on my desk and found the description of it.
The genre description “Skull crushing Extreme Metal” was one of the facts that caused the first question marks. Mainly because of the combination with the country this band, or better said musician since all instruments and vocals are done by the same person, is Mexico.

Jacoba Córdova has over 10 years experience with bands like Antiqua and Project Firestart, but released a demo under the name Ticket To Hell in 2006. “Man Made Paradise” is the first full length album. Listening to the album I got positively surprised. Ticket To Hell stayed true to the good things from the past. Influences of the old school Trash are clearly there. The music is dirty, the music is raw and the music is real.
“Man Made Paradise” is not an album which is overproduced in studio. It is typical how this music should be. It seems like Jacoba took control of it all and you clearly see an album which is built around one ego. This makes it sound like one piece.
It is a friendly nod to the nowadays metal bands that perfectionize their album completely smooth in studio, saying on a pigheaded way: fuck you!
