The German prog metal band Thoughts Factory released the second full-length album “Elements” this winter. Ten tracks reserved place to imagination.

This album is not only about the music, it is about all the senses. In the era where so much visual experience is on the internet, music helps switch on another vision. Experiencing the world directly and engaging with your surroundings. Like the sound ricochets off the side of the house, off the flank the mountains, then back again, a huge aural tennis ball bouncing about the valley. For instance, two-part track “Dawn”, pretty much illustrated this thesis: any kind of emotions chanced each other. The good part of the album consists also of two parts. Firstly, all the songs are nostalgic and secondly, they are focused on the future. So it’s like the past and the future of progressive metal at the same time. Oldies are “Fire Away” (maybe too short for a metal example) and “The Burden”. On other hand, you have “Frozen Planet”, instrumental accompaniment doubled effect of coexistence with nature. Another key track is “Nightfall”, concerning the elements of metal music.

Perhaps, it’s not the best prog metal material you’ve ever heard, but all the elements of nature placed on the record. There are flames of fire, echoed mountains, melodic waterfall and ground under your feet.
